An ‘overzealous’ car park warden stuck ten parking tickets on a car parked in a hospital’s disabled bay as the owner was undergoing emergency surgery.
The tickets were slapped all over the red Mini by the warden after the patient parked in the bay.
She could not move the car due to emergency surgery, but the ticket blitz came despite her showing her blue disabled badge and a note saying she was in for transplant treatment
Parking company officials were forced to back down today after they were condemned by other patients, visitors and politicians over the coldhearted move.
One person said: ‘It is a disgrace – where is the compassion?’
The woman patient – who has not been named – parked her Mini parked at a disabled bay at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff as she went for treatment after a kidney swap.
But after an emergency she was forced to stay in the hospital and she was unable to drive her car away from the bay.
The ten parking tickets – each with a £30 fine – were plastered in a mosaic across her windscreen on ten occasions from May 16 until this weekend.

but there are faint lines on the pavement where the car was lifted so I assume there WERE double yellows there but faint and worn. You can see the ones on the kerb clearly even if they are faded. At least report the truth.

How “zealous” those sadistic cowards can get when they have a sick or disabled person at their mercy. This country is overun with zealots who are positively crazed with the belief that sick and disabled people “aren’t really” sick and disabled.
Can you imagine what went through the traffic warden/wardens mind?
I mean, one ticket, then two, then three……. Upto ten!, how damn idiotic/vindictive and more besides….
The damn lunacy of it all and the having had to back down is brilliant.
The man was having surgery and this silly cop (which in his defense i don’t think he knew about the situation) gave him some parking tickets. It happens.
Hi Clara, think you misread the post, there was a note explaining the emergency surgery on show, the traffic warden knew the situation and stuck ten parking tickets on the car.
The warden had to back down (expressing that there was no intent to care about the situation and stand firm as a pathetic jobsworth).
Mistakes happen yes but ten times ?no!
This was a jobsworth and a childish vindictive one.
