On Wednesday 20th June the Labour Party will call an opposition day debate on Disability Benefits and Social Care, this is the motion being put before the house:
Disability Benefits and Social Care
That this House believes that cuts to support for disabled people and carers poses a potential risk to their dignity and independence and will have wider social and economic costs; regrets that the Department for Work and Pensions has dropped the aim of achieving disability equality; whilst recognising that Disability Living Allowance (DLA) needs to be reformed, expresses concern that taking DLA from 500,000 disabled people and contributory Employment Support Allowance from 280,000 former workers will take vital financial support from families under pressure; expresses further concern at the Work Programme’s failure to help disabled people and the mismanaged closure of Remploy factories; notes the pressing need for continuing reform to the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) to reduce the human cost of wrong decisions; agrees with the eight Carers’ Week charities on the importance of recognising the huge contribution made by the UK’s 6.4 million carers and the need to support carers to prevent caring responsibilities pushing them into ill-health, poverty and isolation; and calls on the Government to ensure reform promotes work, independence, quality of life and opportunities for disabled people and their families, restore the commitment to disability equality in the Department for Work and Pensions’ business plan, conduct a full impact assessment of the combined effect of benefit and social care cuts on disabled people and carers, reform the WCA descriptors as suggested by charities for mental health, fluctuating conditions and sensory impairment and re-run the consultation of the future of Remploy factories
Does anyone think I’m being cynical but I honestly think Labour cannot be trusted on this important issue at the moment, have the Labour leadership come out and apologised for the pain and suffering caused by their previous decisions on welfare, NO, they continue to say that basically things just need tinkering with, no condemnation of the Atos WCA just empty gesturing, “Continuing Reform to the work capability assessment (WCA) to reduce the human cost of wrong decisions”
Notice the Labour Party isn’t calling for the descriptors to the Physical descriptors to change, I’m sceptical, bloody right I am, but certain people who are involved in the fight/campaign believe I need to give the Labour Party a chance, If I’m just in the fight for the fights sake then maybe I should just stay in bed?
I’m going to say something now and some people who shall remain nameless may not like it. When I first started a couple of years back, I had a small website on a free wordpress server, I built it over time and it attracted attention, some of the attention unwanted may I tell you (Legal Department of Atos) but it got some people’s heckles up, when I asked for support from some individuals who were also campaigning they turned me down, they didn’t wish to associate themselves with what I was trying to do at the time, fair enough I thought but I never thought the world of disability campaigning was so bloody clique, how stupid and nieve was I?
What really angers me is how some people campaigning on basically the same things as myself get so bloody precious when they’re views and actions are held up to inspection, I somehow thought and nievely believed we were all on the same path, sadly I think some people campaigning on this issue are not, maybe they have different reasons for doing what they do?
All I’m going to say is that to all those people who have shown me and my website support, I sincerely thank you, John at BlackTriangle, Phil at wondersofwordpress, many others who know who they are, especially to all the members who continually post their personal stories regarding their Atos experiences, Linda and Debbie at DPAC, plus all the wonderful people who post their thoughts and comments on this site day after day, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To all those people who think I need NOT be so sceptical I will say this, When the Labour Party come out and defend disabled people, the sick, the impoverished, make an apology for all the hurt they’ve caused then and maybe only then will I congratulate all those who said I was wrong to think like I do, until then I’ll remain bloody sceptical.

they still there the little torys and will not change anything for the sick and disabled with labour should clean its house out of their little tory lot and perhaps we might start to be treated better but not with htis lot .they talking of keeping cuts whot the torys have done and agree they should keep them these people are not labour but tory infected ideas mainiacs and should be purged from the labour party before there no party left jeff3
Please post my previous comment
I have to agree with you, by admitting that it was totally wrong they could be forgiven perhaps. Your right about the lack of information regarding the descriptors. Like your self i will be sceptical and unusure of the labour party
Wish there was more time to contact my (Labour) MP
Will send an email regardless tonight and hope he will stand against the iniquities that have been perpetrated on the sick and disabled.
This is an opportunity for the opposition to stand up for what is right, not what is politically expedient; to stand against a policy whose appeal has been based on lies and disinformation.
Today I received a form for complaints, comments and suggestions from Atos. “Atos Healthcare, Caring about customer service”
Disgusting double speak and duplicity from every which way.
It’s Nu-Lab WCAs that the Neo-Cons, here, and now, are reforming! What would the opposition do, reform them back again? Reform before Dysfunction, duh – Too late!
They don’t sound very committed …?
“I’ll remain bloody sceptical.”

As you should know by now, I’m not sceptical about NuLabour, not in the least!. There is NO difference between ANY of the three main parties. NuLabour are saying the above to get the weak minded to vote for them AGAIN!!!, NuLabour couldn’t careless about the disabled. The three main parties are in the same club and you and me ain’t in it. Anyone thats votes for NuLabour should automatically qualify for the top rate of DLA on the grounds of lacking even one atom of a brain cell.
It is understandable
It feels like there is no one willing to stand up for those most in need of support
They organise nice shiny charity events and telethons but it is all glamour and smiles with no substance or heart, and more about self promotion.
Yeah Mate, def something classist about it; the ‘compassionate’ Cons vs well, I don’t know (would of been ‘Labour’ re-al), getting down to it – or is this merely nostalgia?
I really think we need to accept that party politics is never going to serve “true democracy” or represent regional interests, and, where possible, support local independent candidates instead.
I trhink most politicians go into politics with good intentions, but then get trapped in the web of party political “stuff”…we as voters need to free up the system and make it clear that a couple of “party chairmen” aren’t going to dictate what we can/can’t successfuly vote for! The only way I can see to do this is to support our independent candidates, and bypass the party whip.
Picked this post up on another forum.
“The NuLabour throw outs are hoping to find a new trough to feed from.

.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Lord Prescott has been announced as one of Labour’s candidates to be a police commissioner later this year.
.
Former Liverpool Wavertree MP Jane Kennedy was chosen as candidate for Merseyside’s commissioner.
.
Ex-Solicitor General Vera Baird won the nomination for the Northumbria force.
.
Tony Lloyd, the former chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party, was elected unopposed as candidate for Greater Manchester.
.
And former work and pensions minister James Plaskitt – who lost the marginal seat of Warwick and Leamington at the last election – will run in Warwickshire.
.
Meanwhile, the former First Minister of Wales, Alun Michael, was nominated to run in South Wales, with his son, Tal Michael, representing North Wales.
.
I suspect that the same applies to the Conservative crowd who didn’t make it at the last election or who stood down following the expenses scandal.”
With 11 million of us in the UK we hold a huge percentage of the vote- as I told this to my right wing MP when I spoke to him to complain about the 1 yr limit to ESA WRAG benefits. He didn’t have a slick answer to that. The question for me is how do we mobilise the 11 million of us to use this power at the ballot box when faced with such similar parties? How do we mobilise ourselves to drive the message of our power home to the not fit for purpose callous politicians?
I think Jane has said what i would have myself……
Admin….. Thank you also for putting the time and effort in to provide the news here. I do not believe you can be blamed for the naivety had, we have all at some point been guilty of being a little gullible as much as to believe in what we are told.
As for my first Atos, i welcomed it initially in 2009, what with being blacklisted by nhs, i thought, “yay an independent medical, itl prove my situation and condition, il be heard and finally appropriately treated with dignity and by responsible medical professionals”
what a fool i was?, nah, it was hope and genuine expectancy, that i believe anyone would have had.
We all have learned not to trust anyone whether in parliament or the governmental foot soldiers, ive learned not to trust any medical professional too, its a sad and unfortunate thing.
But! To not be naive anymore creates a strength, certainly has for myself, so its not all bad.
XXXAnnXXX
are we all forgetting that all this trouble we are having with ATOS and these new benefit systems were all thought up by Labour and ATOS over a few years and we need to find where/when the tory involvement started.
This could have never been done by just one party. It needed cross party agreement. That includes the Libdems.
CORRECTION: This was first dreamed up by Thatcher back in 1992 who used the services of the 2nd worst insurance giant in the US, namely UNUM Insurance, who remain gvt advisers to all gvts since 1994….. They are present at all annual political party conferences ….
The WCA was introduced by Labour, following UNUM’s input, and the Atos bogus assessments are based on UNUM’s method of failing to offer insurance payouts on claims by their clients. Labour introduced the WCA but the Tory’s implimentations are much, much worse and are impacting across the entire benefit spectrum.
Today’s debate in the HOC failed to win enough votes, despite a concerted effort by many, and IDS was his usual obnoxious and ill mannered self.
Detailed info about Unum Insurance is exposed on my website at:
http://www.whywaitforever.com/dwpatosveterans.html and Welfare Reform – Redress for the Disabled was quoted during the welfare reform debates in the House of Lords, whose amendments the PM dismissed, using a little known authority.
That ‘little known authority’ Cameron used was like an emergency measure based on the existential panic station in the country’s consciousness that the so called right wing [and Danny Alexander of the ambivalent LDs] are riding so hard on: “They’ve-never-had-it-so-good” – Please invert that famous phrase proportionally back on to this particularly opportunistic crop of politicians. Give me HAL-2000 + a collegiate bunch of technocrats exponentially suited to the millenium we now find ourselves floundering in, please – Any Time Now!
Thanks Mo for putting that info up.
Todays debate was as I had previously said going to be a complete load of bollocks, the Labour Party are using the disabled debate to further their bloody image, they want votes that’s all, they will promise practically anything to get back in power, then just like all political parties they will wipe their arses on your very being…
Sorry about my language I’m just angry about todays debate, bloody angry…

Maybe a letter to IDS in the blood of all the disabled people who’s lives he’s fucked up might get his attention? Am I being a bit extreme?
C’mon guys – where have you been for the last few years…?? There’s no way today’s vote was going to be allowed to be a success for the Opposition; it gives them an excuse to say they tried but failed, the Tories already had the votes in their pocket before the debate began and, although they did go through the motions of airing some important points, it was always going to be a no-win situation.
At least IDS wasn’t an ‘official’ contributor so that prevented me from being sick…. No Admin, you aren’t extreme, but it would help if you comprehend that this could never be successful. It was all play acting to humour people like us, and to give them amunition when attacked about their failure to stop the Tories’ destruction of the welfare state.
Gotta go now.
Take care all. Keep fighting. Mo x
I never thought it would prove successful Mo, I said so yesterday to many people but I was told I was too downbeat.
Labour are just as bad as ConDems, they’re all in it together…
Thanks again for poppin in, hope your well…
It makes me sick when I see IDS smirk , he has one thing in his head and thats to destroy the Welfare state. Ed milliband will not get my vote as he is more tory than Labour. My vote, if I vote at all will go to Nigel Farrage UKIP.
UNUM/Atos Anthem
The far right’s Anthem
Labour are every bit as bad as the Tories. They may well be even worse now they’ve got the ultimate Tory Tony Blair working with them in an advisory capacity. They’d kill us all off without a second thought.
“Ehey’d kill us all of …” I’ve started a probit scale, for the benefit of my Con-MP from the City. It’s a graph with one projection of me, by me, up until my WCA, scored out on a set course, as it should continue as forecasted per the normal inertia of life’s realities; the other line deviates from the norm in a parallel reality, following the likely but virtual reality assessment BY A COMPUTER. Of course, they can’t both be true and if the second (blue) line goes awry after my appointment with her crooked Atos’s LIMA programme, then that will be her paralell reality conjoined (unsolicited) to whatever happens to me subsequent to her at-one-arm’s-length corrupted computer: she will share my fate, the great leveller that comes from getting a computer rig to do your dirty work for you. Always the consequences; I will have nothing to lose apart from my very liberty. And what good will that be reduced to (?) I’m hoping she might ponder this conundrum over the extended holiday period but you know how perverse it gets with them, as in: THEM!
Tony Blairs one of Bilderbergs favourite stooges, having him back proves the obvious anyway….
ALL PARTIES ARE RIGHT WING FASCIST SCUM!
theres no way forward with these bastards… I think we are doing very well on our own, we aint shut up, we aint backed down, we aint givin up….. We are a force to be reckoned with.
Stay up and stay proud guys, we’re gonna prove as we have done thus far……
We might be weak and vunerable to law and political leaders but we are a very strong unit of intelligence, we could do their fucking job, we would do it better and we would be based on honesty, fairness and reality…… As for them, like us they could not do manual labour they could not do jobs of ‘the norm’…. Unlike us, they are oblivious to reality, we cannot do manual labour or jobs of the norm because of health.
But we could sure as hell sit around debating who to screw over, we would not attack the poor nor would we those in need of help.
These bastards are insane gone mad……. Id love to medicate them and see them live the hell they deliberate.
Labour are no friends of the poor and disabled because they realise that the majority just vote for any labour donkey thats running..
Its the middle class vote they crave because they do change votes to lib/con/lab and that enables them the power they all so much crave…
At some stage the people will have to reject our so called parlimentry parties as they have lost complete sight of who they are meant to represent and just do lipservice to the 99% while being enriched via directorships and such like by the ruling 1%…
The time is near and it will not be pretty but it must be done if we are all to break free from the shackles they have silently attached to us all…fight back before you come completly enslaved to the corparate system…
Capitalism is certainly making the people pay, that’s for sure!
Those Millibands seem like nice middle-class boys, though … The Capitalists are NOT relying on the once was ‘Working Class’ to save it, none of us are.
Socialism has got to get a bigger way, internationally, globally even, than worrying around non-existent classifications in societies; class systems giving way to the broader divided consciousness that they, through Capitalism, have spawned.
Yes, the people will pay one-way-or-another. Just look at what IDS is actually prepared to do to humankind in order to secure his place in the lifeboat (or the yacht, depending on what you’ve got?).
Poetically put, agree whole heartedly, the elites are gonna fail, as they ever do, their puppets (gov and upperclasses) are too blind to see they are too, mere expendable pawns.
The people rise up time and again and the elites retreat and come up with a new way, ever using, the same method of dumbing down the masses…… We are so much more powerfull than they want us to believe….. We will beat them, we just have to keep fighting our own way we know how….. Opposing everything with our honest reason.
They can kep coming at us, but believe it or not? We are the honesty, the truth, the reason and they cant do anything to break that.
Absolutely.
I hear you but! All parties are scum and UKIP are not the answer, we need a reality check and culture shock that will blow the gov to pieces.
That being a new party of the common man…. If i knew what to do?….. Id do it myself. Id become the peoples spokesperson and stand up with a voice that actually meant what it said.
As futile as it may sound and seem, someone needs to, if i actually knew how to begin, id do it.
Im sick and tired of us all wanting basic decency from an evil government that no matter who sits in no.10, will never be for the people.
So. Any ideas? Help me people! Its about time we did best but properly…..
We know whats wrong, we know who is to blame, why dont we put it into a party for the common man?.
Anyone who thinks ‘why bother?’ is not thinking straight… Because what do we have to lose?
We need a voice, im prepared to be it….. Please someone offer ideas on how to get up and running.
