It emerged yesterday that up to 3,500 extra troops will be needed for security duties during the Olympics amid fears that private firm G4S will not be able to provide enough staffing.
Some 17,000 troops will now be involved in the Olympics, with 11,000 of these involved in the security at more than 30 sporting venues and 70 non-competition venues, including car parks and hotels.
Confidential Home Office documents seen by The Daily Telegraph show that G4S has had its fee for managing civilian security staff for the Games rise from £7.3 million to £60 million.
Theresa May, the home secretary, faced a grilling from MPs in the House of Commons yesterday and was accused of presiding over an Olympic security “shambles”.

I’ve just been f**ked over by Atos again. Complained about the ‘medical’. They explained how the ‘medical’ wasn’t actually a ‘medical’, it was a work capability assessment. Strange how the word ‘medical’ is promoted by Atos in all their literature, forms and letters. And how they are able to give a ‘prognosis’ which the dictionary states is ‘A forecast of the likely course of a disease or ailment’, and everybody gets the same ‘prognosis’ which is ‘A return to work could be considered within 3 months’, even for Quadriplegics…..
Sorry about your ATOS nonsense decision- this is so shitty. I’m in the same boat and am sinking my teeth into the appeals process like a terrier. Interesting, the points you make about the wording. Even my (stupid Tory-boy) MP described the ATOS assessment as an “examination”.
They are all over the place with the terms they use. Is it a possibility we could “do” them over their misuse of terminology do you reckon?

Last I heard, troops were to be housed in school gyms and other public buildings. The only abuse of the public I’ve heard of is the “missiles on the roof” shenanigans. reckon the “pushing people out of their homes” thing is a load of cock. Anyone tried it with me, they’re get a crossbow bolt through whatever part of their body presented itself first.

ihave been told that a letter was sent to a 17 yr old girl still within school that she is to be part of security at the Olympics. Not sure if she applied for it. Now wether this is paid or not this is true it is a concern anyone else know who the goverment is useing in the security? More concern is a 17yrs old girl!
