    2.6 The Atos Perspective

Atos HCPs view themselves as, get this, Medical experts and disability analyst’s, when did Atos HCPs suddenly become medical experts?…

    • They didn’t ven know how to deal with a Panic Attack when I had one during my Assessment,so I too question their medical expertise. I also question their ability to assess Mental Health issues,as a “Mind” Advocate said that those doing assessments arn’t qualified.
Saying that, its the DWP who are really at fault here I believe,as it they who set out the criteria and the questions that Atos merely deliver. We attack Atos, but are we really just “shooting the messenger” ? (No, I’m not a Shareholder!!)

      • Welcome Trevor

Atos carry out the assessments so I think Atos are fair game as the main target.

Whilst the DWP are also to blame it’s much harder to attack the DWP, in my mind they are both as evil as one another…

  2. atos healthcare i htought they couldnot handle the healthcare as up in newcastle they give back control of theirs as they couldnt handle it so our beloved atossers are calling themselves names but cant keep to the healthcare as most are not qualified or missing something as they only aks questions off a computer so for their part i cant see qualified nurses putting up with it for long ,atossers should be shown the door big time with fines to match jeff3

  3. The latest figures show that 55 per cent of new claimants who go through the Work Capability Assessment are found fit for some form of work.
The official statistics published today also show that, for the latest period 20 per cent could be capable of doing some work with the right help and support and a further 26 per cent of people will go directly into the Support Group, receiving unconditional financial support.
The latest figures also show an increase in the proportion of initial decisions upheld following appeal from 66 per cent in December 2010 to February 2011 to 69 per cent in March to May 2011.
Earlier this month the Department started asking tribunal judges to record a reason if they overturn a decision on appeal. The Department will use this information to ensure they understand why decisions are being overturned. This will in turn assist the Department in improving standards of decision making.
    Employment Minister Chris Grayling said:
“It’s in everybody’s interest that we get the Work Capability Assessment right first time. We have put a huge amount of effort into trying to improve our decision making. I want a much better understanding of why judges often do not agree – and particularly why they believe the people whose appeals they uphold really cannot return to any form of work. It’s obviously better to help people back to work if we possibly can, rather than leaving them stranded on benefits for the rest of their lives.”

  4. This is why there is to be a judicial review of the WCA, the Secretary of State is being taken to the High Court and the legal and medical evidence is that the WCA is ‘illegal’ from the perspective of people with mental health problems. Many will be clinically unable to cope with the so called Atos ‘medical’.

The Minister should read my research. The DWP have ignored 10 consecutive annual reports by the President of the Appeal Tribunals that identified Atos assessments that ‘did not coincide with reality’ so all Chris Grayling needs to do is to accept the annual reports by the President of the Appeal Tribunals.

I shall be sending my research portfolio to the authors of the DWP research report. It’s quite an interesting document but research is only as good as the information accessed for the research….
