Letter to Chris Grayling Minister for Employment from Mo Stewart… — 14 Comments

  1. Excellent letter. we have to keep pestering them- I am a great believer in Nelson Mandela’s advice: “Never underestimate the power of persistence.”
My MP,(Tory-boy) who my partner and I have written to many a time regarding WCA, is now using fewer soundbites in his replies and actually having to make up his own sentences!

Keep at it, we shall overcome.

  2. It IS starting to work…
My (Idiot) Tory MP has tried to resist me for a year, has gone tho’ the motions of writing to Ministers but now appears to be waking up…. He’s sent a letter to Maria Miller, on my behalf, inviting the rational behind people like me, who are ill and permanently disabled with medical evidence to confirm that I can only continue to deteriorate over time, and inviting her to justify why people like me must be constantly assessed…
The conferences this year may be entertaining BUT the disabled movement in the UK must lobby these pople on mass and don’t stop as the British people are slowly waking up since the 2 TV documentaries.

  3. I was thinking about trying to get a badge or armband campaign together, maybe a black armband, it represents grieving, disabled people are grieving for their human rights and dignity, the politicians have anandoned us, anyone got any ideas????

    • Yes, great idea. I have been making my own badges- one with a simple black triangle and another with the black triangle and fist. I think a badge with something simple about ATOS/DWP would be good. I think we need a good simple item that becomes recognised in the mainstream if you know what I mean. And as quickly as possible!

  4. Great minds always think alike.
I have already made contact with a greetings card designer to ask if she can design us an appropriate card – possible a postcard – depicting images of various disability types with a message… will let you know if she agrees.

Otherwise, I suggest a badge rather than an armband.

    • Gale

Whoever runs that website should be strapped up like a Spit roasted chicken and cooked slowly under hot charcoals, if it weren’t so laughable, this idiot never lets facts get in the way of his reporting, very sad individual….

  5. A E petition to sign to try and get the Government to Stop and review the cuts to benefits and services which are falling disproportionately on disabled people, their carers and families.

I believe it needs a 100,000 signatures before it gets considered so not sure if it is going to reach that or not.

    • Thanks for putting that up BigTam, I’ve publicised it many times before and it’s a good cause but personally I don’t think petitions achieve much, even when huge numbers sign?

One only has to look back to the recent wars our servicemen and women have been involved in, we even saw huge street demonstrations, the government took no notice.
