David Cameron speaks of British pride regarding the Olympics and Paralympic Games, he takes every opportunity he can to have his grinning face pictured next to a Paralympian lighting a torch or just shaking hands, this man is as sincere as Rupert Murdoch was at the inquiry.
“The Olympic Games made our country proud. I believe these Paralympic Games will make our country prouder still. Already this is shaping up to be the best, the biggest, the most incredible Paralympic Games ever.
“Over these next two weeks, we’re going to have more of those moments that will bring us together and make us proud. We are going to show the whole world that when it comes to putting on a show, there is no country like Britain and no city like London.”
Why should this country be proud of the Paralympic Games? This nation should feel ashamed, it should not be blinded by all the hull a balu and artificial praise that people like Cameron,Coe etc are seen dishing out everyday, it’s a con and the sooner the wider public see and realise what’s going on the better, the problem is, do the wider public really care?
For many of those British Paralympians taking part in this years games they could not of got where they are in their sport without receiving welfare benefit‘s, I’m sure the majority of the wider public don’t realise that, without DLA a large percentage of these wonderful sports people could not of achieved greatness in their chosen sport.
Some have spoken out against the welfare reforms, many have stayed silent as they are frightened of being punished by the likes of the organising authorities, should they risk all that they’ve achieved for a few seconds of glory, should they stand or sit shoulder to shoulder with their fellow disabled citizens to fight against a tyranny that If not stopped will see the lives of disabled people revert back to the days of Victorian Asylums?
Those who are OK with their lot at the moment will say things aren’t that bad why rock the boat, the problem is the boat has already set sail, the captain of the ship the political classes are all on the same side, Labour, Conservative,LibDems, they’re all on the same hymn sheet when it comes to welfare Reform and disability issues.
I have no pride in the Paralympics whatsoever, not when I see disabled people being constantly assessed for their meagre benefit’s, sometimes 2 or 3 times per year, in some cases 4 times, this is not right in any way, I can’t feel pride when I know people are choosing to die rather than continue down a never-ending road of abuse by the state, no, pride is not the word I feel at the moment about Great Britain, anger and resentment is how I feel and so should the Paralympians for they’ll be next just wait and see?….
