Gary Lineker doesn’t want to do a cookbook
Gary Lineker has ruled out publishing a cookbook because he’s ‘an amateur’ in the kitchen, and instead wants to star in a TV show learning alongside ‘real chefs’
Gary Lineker will never publish a celebrity cookbook because he is just an “amateur” chef.
The ‘Match of the Day’ host would only foray into cooking broadcast if he worked alongside ‘real chefs’ – like Nigella Lawson – and admits he’s turned down opportunities to make a book of his favorite recipes, despite being a “good cook”. ”.
The 61-year-old former footballer told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “If I ever did a TV cooking show, it would only be with chefs. Where I could actually learn something with real chefs. Nigella is teaching Gary to cook? Now there is an idea.
” I’m a good cook. I’m getting better, but I’m not a chef, and if I did a cookbook or a cooking show, I’d feel like an impostor.
The former Leicester City star says he receives suggestions to show off his foodie skills from fans on social media.
Gary said: “Someone once asked me on a Tweet, ‘Why don’t you do a cooking show or a cookbook?’ and I said, ‘No, I’m not a chef.’ And, oddly enough, Nigella and another celebrity chef immediately liked my answer.
“I don’t think they were relieved that I wasn’t competing. I think they probably thought, “We don’t want another celebrity doing a cooking show.”
“All I am is a cook with five or six years of experience since I started from scratch.”
The former Tottenham Hotspur player – who has four sons George, 30, Harry, 28, Tobias, 26 and Angus, 24, with ex-wife Michelle Cockayne – has ruled out entering politics, but is “interested” in affairs of state.
He said: “I am interested in politics, but I never wanted to be a politician. I’m interested in football, but I never wanted to go do anything on FIFA.
