Following her conviction for Easton’s negligence, a judge agreed that Millar was less intelligent than an ordinary person, which had impaired her judgment, but that she knew what she had done was wrong.

The court heard that Easton’s internal temperature skyrocketed to 40C, causing his fragile body to suffer kidney failure, disrupting his liver, blinding him and severely damaging his brain.

Millar had told emergency service workers that the windows had been rolled down with the air conditioning on and that she had regularly checked on her baby, but none of that was true.

Easton is now in the care of a family member and needs round-the-clock care.
