VW fights to curb allegations of deception in UK ‘Dieselgate’ lawsuit


By Joanne Faulkner (December 6, 2021, 11:29 p.m. GMT) – UK drivers suing Volkswagen AG over diesel cars fitted with emission control devices should not be able to argue they were cheated, lawyers for the automaker said on Monday . the High Court during the early stages of a “Dieselgate” action for damages.

VW attorney Charles Gibson QC urged court to quash allegations that more than 86,000 car owners have been cheated by the automaker, arguing that failure to mention the devices is insufficient under the law for a claim for deception.
